SHINee adalah boyband Korea bentukan Sm Entertainment yang beranggotakan 5 orang: Onew (leader), Jonghyun, Key, Minho, dan Taemin. Saat pertama kali debut, usia mereka rata-rata masih 14-18 tahun. Pada 25 Mei 2008, SHINee debut dengan membawakan single “Noona, You are so Pretty” atau lebih dikenal dengan judul “Replay”. Secara instant, boyband ini pun jadi idola di kalangan noona-noona (wanita yang usianya lebih tua). Bermodalkan pesona remaja mereka, tampang imut, dan talenta besar, takk heran kalau SHINee bisa langsung popular hanya dalam hitungan bulan. Ke depannya, SHINee berharap bisa jadi panutan kalangan remaja dalam segala hal. Mulai dari gaya dance, lagu, dan fashion.

SHINee berasal dari kata “shine”--bercahaya atau bersinar—dengan tambahan “e” yang bahasa Inggris biasa ditambahkan pada sebuah kata kerja untuk mengubahnya menjadi pelaku, seperti “trainee” yang berarti orang yang menerima pelatihan. Jadi, SHINee dapat diartikan sebagai “orang yang menerima sinar atau cahaya”. Kenyataannya, nama tersebut sangat cocok dengan image dan popularitas mereka yang kini tengah bersinar terang.
